It apparently started out as a stunt, but it quickly turned into a deadly struggle for the two men who tried to swim across the Yarra river at night. When Mr. Brearley, who had warned the men of the danger, heard their cries, he quickly went to help. He was able to save one of the panicky duo, but the other man was lost. Thanks, Mr. Brearley!
